National Geographic interviews UB expert on what happens when ‘junk” DNA gets stripped

National Geographic, NBC News and Science Magazine reported on UB research that showed that so-called junk DNA, which makes up the vast majority of the genome, really isn’t needed for a healthy organism, and quotes Victor Albert, professor of biological sciences. “At least for a plant, junk DNA really is just junk – it’s not required,” he said.
